Ego Cigarette Instructions – Filling, Charging and Cleaning an E-Cig

These ego cigarette instructions can be applied to any of the second generation e-cigarette devices on this site. There may just be some minor differences in the way the actual devices come apart. Also, the end of the e-cig that you fill from can be the at the bottom instead of the top. However, the methods for cleaning, filling and charging your e-cigarette remain the same.

E-Cig Charging Instructions

Follow these e-cig charging instructions step by step.

  1. Unscrew the battery and detach from the atomizer.
  2. Screw the battery into the end of the usb cord.
  3. Plug the other end of the usb cord into the usb hub of the wall adapter or another usb hub such as your computer.
  4. Plug the wall adapter into the wall power socket and switch it on.

The first time you charge the battery after purchasing your new electronic cigarette, you should leave it to charge for at least 5 hours. Even though the light will have turned green after only 2-3 hours, leave it to keep charging for another few hours. You only need to do that once when you first get it. From then on, you will only need to charge the battery until the light turns green which should take 2-3 hours.

How to Refill Your E-Cig

Follow the instructions below on how to refill your e-cig tank with e-juice, step by step.

Ego cigarette instructions for filling your clearomizer tank with e-juice

  1. Unscrew the filter (end where you suck from), and detach from the clearomizer.
  2. Get your bottle of e-liquid and remove the cap.
  3. Use the nozzle or needle (usually attached to the bottle) to gently squeeze the juice into the open end of the clearomizer tank. Be very careful not to get any juice in the middle tubing of the e-cig. So squirt the e-liquid to the side of the chamber while holding the clearomizer slightly tilted and let the liquid gently roll down into the tank.
  4. Fill to approximately half way or slightly under half way.

See the tube in the middle of the atomizer? This tubing is meant for air only and needs to be clean and dry. If any liquid gets into this tube, the e-cig will gurgle and not perform optimally.

How to Clean an E-cig

If you do manage to get some liquid in the tubing part or after a while it becomes a bit dirty just from use, it will need to be cleaned. If it starts to gurgle or not perform as it should then you know it’s time for a clean. Follow these simple instructions step by step of how to clean an e-cig tank.

  1. Make sure the chamber is empty.
  2. Unscrew all the parts that can be detached.
  3. Soak the clearomizer chamber and filter in some kind of alcohol based cleaning solution. (nothing too strong that will dissolve it.)
  4. Run hot water (not too hot) through the clearomizer tubing and chamber.
  5. Gently and carefully pat dry the parts with a paper towel. Leave parts to dry in a warm place, but not outside in direct sunlight.
  6. Then hold the parts and shake any excess water droplets out with a flicking motion.
  7. Then screw the parts together including battery and ignite the atomizer. (Do not fill the chamber yet) Hold the button down for a few seconds until you hear a sizzling sound (this is the excess water evaporating). Do this until you start to see a little vapor rise. Do not hold the button down for too long while the clearomizer is empty or it will burn out the coil, so be very careful and only do this part if it is absolutely necessary, usually just drying out with the towel will be enough.

Congratulations you now know how to clean an e-cig. For more detailed instruction on cleaning your e-cig atomizer and coils see the e-cigarette troubleshooting guide.

Simple Ego Cigarette Instructions for Your New Kit

(Works with All Makes and Models)

Here is a very well explained set of instructions and tips for using, filling and charging your new e-cigarette.

How to Get an Evod MT3 or Ego CE5 Atomizer Working Properly Again

After a while your evod e-cig clearomizer may not function properly or even at all. This is very likely to be a burned out coil. But, hang on… before you buy a new atomizer or new coil, you can try to fix the old one yourself. It may be a burned out wire connection which is a fiddly procedure with a soldiering iron to fix, but before you throw it away… it could also be just a build up of carbon and gunky wick. This is relatively easy to fix, just poke, tap and wash it all out. (See the e-cig troubleshooting guide for more information on how to do this.)

Follow the instructions in the video below. The video explains the procedure for an evod mt3 atomizer but it is pretty much the same idea for the ego ce5… just pull disconnect all the parts and get the gunk out and replace the wick and reconnect. Watch the video below to see how. For a more detailed explanation of all the various issues one might come across with an e-cigarette please see the E-cigarette Troubleshooting Guide.

I hope these ego cigarette instructions are helpful to you. Now you know about charging an e-cigarette battery, filling an e-cigarette with e-juice, and how to clean an e-cigarette. Make sure you keep your vapour cigarette clean all the time, and your ecig battery fully charged. This will lengthen the longevity of the device and keep you vaping for months to come.

  1. Battery not charging, only had vapouriser for a month. Is it stuffed???

    • There are several things which can kill a battery. Overcharging, leaving in cold, leaving hot, dropping on hard ground. sitting on it wrong, and many other factors. Just like any batteries. However the most common thing is dirty contacts. Try cleaning both the charging cord and battery contacts. If that doesn’t work, sometimes a battery just dies after a month or so. It may be time to buy another one. batteries are cheap, you can a variety of them from the accessories page. They will all work on the common 501 thread. The next one you get could last 6 months. Even if you bought a battery every week it would still be cheaper than smoking right? However, on average, a rechargeable e-cigarette battery should last 3months at least and most do. it’s the luck of the draw sometimes. Most people who use e-cigs have a few batteries and are not shy of buying a new one when needed. Generally the more expensive the battery, the more reliable it will be.

  2. hi there
i have just bought a vapyr and how do you know when it needs rechared? as it says on the pamphlet around 700 puffs but who counts how many puffs

    • Hi Karen, You will know when it needs charging as it will run out of power, when it loses power it is time to charge it up again. When charging, the light (on the charging cord) will turn green from red when it’s ready.

  3. Hi there
I have just been given the CE4 and need to know how to replace the coil when necessary also how often does the coil need to be replaced?
    Many thanks

    • Hi Joe, Actually the ce4 model does not have a replaceable coil but you can replace the whole atomizer bit. I sell the ce4 atomizers on the accessories page. The ce5 model however does have a replaceable coil which I also sell on the accessories page. An option for you would be to get a ce5 atomizer which will also work with your battery and then you can replace the coil when needed. I recommend replacing the coil once every month or so (but then again, sometimes a coil will last many months)…Thanks.
